Nachtvlinders

"Nachtvlinders" is a documentary photography project that I developed and showcased during an exhibition at Nachtlab, a creative hub and workspace catering to nightlife artists in Amsterdam. The project sheds light on the lives of women working within the Amsterdam nightlife scene. The exhibition aimed to provide an insightful glimpse into the diverse roles these women occupy and their valuable impact on the city's vibrant nightlife culture.

The images featured in this series combine portrait and documentary style photography. They are sequel to Jitske’s United Nations’s exhibition for International Women’s Day at the Dutch Embassy in Havana, Cuba. The women featured were portrayed as protagonists in mainly male-dominated industries. The theme continues in her new exhibition, as the Amsterdam party-scene is still a heavily saturated male-dominated industry. Jitske’s exhibition shows the essence of this theme.”
