Photography – Styling – Art Direction

I am a visual designer located in Amsterdam. My approach towards visual design is multi-layered and almost holistic, trying to push the limits of what is possible through photography, styling and art direction.

I obtained my bachelors degree in Fashion&Design at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, in the Netherlands. During my education I interned at several studios in the Netherlands an abroad. My first internship was in 2010 with the famous textile designer Claudy Jongstra. Even still in school I continued working for Claudy as a freelance graphic designer.

With an international mindset, I decided to try my luck in Paris. There, I worked in design and styling with fashion designer Gaspard Yurkievich. During this internship I had the opportunity to assist stylist Beth Fenton preparing for the show at Paris Fashion Week . This amazing experience trigged my passion for styling and working in a changing and hectic environment.

To explore the field of fashion styling further I travelled to New York to assist stylist and casting director Tom van Dorpe. With him I did several shoots for V Magazine,V Man,Numero Homme, Hugo Boss and Svetnoy . Living and working in New York was a dream come true. Therefore, I decided to stay for another internship at trendforecasting agency ESP trendlab. During my time at ESP I focussed on graphic design, DTP, and concept development, while assisting the team creating the ESP Edit trend-book. Next to my internship I studied at Parsons the New School of Design, where I followed courses in Web Design and Graphic Design.

After an amazing year it was time to go back to Amsterdam to turn my new gained knowledge into practice. Back home I got the opportunity to work as a freelance stylist for G-Star Raw. Inspired by my photo styling experience I decided to broaden my horizon by adding photography to my work as a stylist and graphic designer. Eventually, my love for image making got me to follow courses in analogue, fashion and portrait photography. Following, I started to work as a freelance photographer, specializing in fashion and night-life photography for well known publications such as Vice,Thump and Het Parool, which you can find by clicking here.

Besides the creative work I’m fascinated by the business and economic side of the creative industries. Therefore, I studied at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, where I obtained a Master’s degree in Cultural Economics & Entrepreneurship. During this program I studied the relation between consumer choices, marketing and sustainable fashion. Are you interested in sharing thoughts or working with me, please click here
